Brooklyn, NY – Eighteen Firefighters Injured in House Fire on Ashford St

Brooklyn, NY (October 31, 2021) – At 4:52 p.m. on Friday afternoon, October 29, a house fire occurred in Brooklyn that injured several firefighters.

According to FDNY officials, the incident happened in a three-story home on Ashford Street. Multiple people called 911 after they saw that a fire broke out in the upper floors of the home. The fire spread quickly and started to threaten all of the neighboring homes. A total of 35 units responded to the fire, with approximately 150 firefighters. They were able to get the fire completely under control around 6:30 p.m.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Two civilians on the scene were injured in the fire. A total of eighteen firefighters were also injured in the fire. The parties were all taken to local hospitals, though their conditions are not yet known.

The area was blocked for a period of time as crews brought the fire under control.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
