Brooklyn, NY (February 20, 2021) – Around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, February 20, a car crash took place at an intersection in Brooklyn.

According to police, the accident took place at the intersection of Livonia Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue. Officers were on their way to check out a report of shots fired in the area when the accident took place. The marked cruiser was headed through the intersection when it was struck by a black sedan trying to make a left turn.

The officer attempted to avoid the accident but was unable to do so. The police vehicle and the other vehicle collided with one another, sending the cruiser into a pillar. The vehicles involved were badly damaged.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The officers both suffered injuries to their legs and were hospitalized. The driver of the sedan, identified as a 49-year-old man, did not have injuries.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
