Brooklyn, NY – One Killed in Building Collapse on 42nd St

Brooklyn, NY (December 28, 2020) – Around 1:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon, December 28, one person was killed in a Brooklyn building collapse.

According to the FDNY, the accident took place at 454 42nd Street when construction workers were working on a building. All of a sudden, a brick wall collapsed in the building. The incident was so severe that workers were trapped under the debris.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene of the accident. One worker, who has not yet been identified, was taken pronounced dead at the scene. A second worker was injured and transported to NYU Langone Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

The area was blocked off until police were able to clear the scene.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
