Brooklyn, NY (July 17, 2021) – One person died and another victim sustained serious injuries after a car crash occurred in Brooklyn early Saturday morning, July 17.

Per reports from authorities, the incident happened just before 3:30 a.m. near Atlantic Avenue and Rochester Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Surveillance video from across the street showed a Maserati jump a curb after a crash, hit a concrete median, and smash into a subway column. The car then burst into flames as a result of the impact.

The driver, who was trapped inside the vehicle, died at the scene. A 35-year-old passenger, whose identity is unknown, was taken to a local hospital via ambulance in critical condition.

It’s unclear if any other vehicles were involved in the crash, though investigators are still working to piece together the circumstances leading to the wreck. They have asked witnesses to come forward with any information they may have about the accident.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
