Central Islip, NY (January 21, 2021) – Around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday night, January 19, a pedestrian hit-and-run accident occurred at an intersection in Central Islip.
According to police, the accident took place at the intersection of Hawthorne Avenue and William Avenue when a 24-year-old woman from the area was crossing the intersection. She was suddenly struck by a vehicle that fled the scene of the accident.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the collision. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
