Manhattan, NY (December 11, 2020) – Around 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon, December 11, a pedestrian accident involving protesters happened at a Manhattan intersection.
According to authorities, the accident took place at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and East 39th Street. At the time, approximately 50 protesters were in the area and surrounded a vehicle at the intersection. The driver pulled away quickly, causing them to strike multiple victims.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the crash. At least seven people were injured. Though none of the injuries were life-threatening, some were taken to the hospital.
The female driver remained at the scene to cooperate with the police. Police said that the driver claims they accelerated their vehicle out of fear.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
