Queens, NY – Fatal Hit-and-Run E-Bike Collision on Belt Pkwy

Queens, NY (October 6, 2021) – On Wednesday morning, October 6, a fatal hit-and-run collision involving an E-bike occurred in Queens.

According to NYPD officials, the accident happened on the Belt Parkway near the area of Lefferts Boulevard. An E-bike rider was headed westbound on the highway around 1 a.m. when he was struck by a passenger vehicle that was traveling near the exit. The driver of the vehicle, as well as his four passengers, hopped out of the vehicle and fled the scene.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The E-bike rider, who was not identified, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.

The driver of the Dodge Charger that struck the victim has not yet been formally identified or charged.

Due to the severity of the accident, the highway was blocked in the area of Lefferts Boulevard for several hours as police cleared the scene.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
