Queens, NY (January 9, 2021) – Around 11:50 p.m. on Friday night, January 8, seven people were injured in a salon fire in Queens.

The seven-alarm fire broke out at a hair salon near the intersection of 37th Avenue and Main Street. Police confirmed that, as the fire grew, it spread to a second building, though the exact damage to the buildings is not yet known.

Paramedics were dispatched to the scene and helped firefighters, who were injured as a result of the fire. Four firefighters were taken to the hospital with injuries, while three others received care at the scene.

Due to the severity of the fire, it took approximately 200 fire crews to bring the fire under control. The investigation into the circumstances of the fire continues.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
