Queens, NY (February 16, 2021) – Around 2 p.m. on Monday, February 15, a woman was killed in a pedestrian accident in Queens.
According to officials, the accident took place at a car wash located at the corner of Cross Bay Boulevard and Gold Street. An employee identified as 43-year-old Edwin Vargas was leaving the car wash bay when he struck a female customer in the parking lot with his vehicle.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the crash. The pedestrian, identified as a 54-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
After striking the pedestrian, Vargas also struck a parked car before he came to a stop. Police charged him with vehicular manslaughter, vehicular assault, DWI, and more.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
