Staten Island, NY (December 30, 2020) – On Wednesday, December 30, a serious car accident took place on a roadway in Staten Island that injured two victims.
According to police, the accident took place on Hylan Boulevard around the area of Dongan Hills Avenue. Police believe that a 52-year-old driver suffered a medical episode while driving a Toyota Highlander. He suddenly lost control of his vehicle and crossed into oncoming traffic, where his vehicle collided head-on with a Toyota RAV4. Police believe that the driver suffered from a heart attack.
The 52-year-old driver was taken to Staten Island University Hospital with critical injuries. The 48-year-old driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover from neck and knee injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation is currently ongoing.
