Queens, NY (October 28, 2021) – At 1 a.m. on Thursday, October 28, a hit-and-run bicycle accident occurred on a roadway in Queens.

According to officials, the accident happened on Queens Boulevard. A 21-year-old cyclist was traveling in the area when they were suddenly struck by an unknown vehicle. Instead of stopping, the driver of the vehicle continued onward toward the area of the Queensboro Bridge.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately called to the scene to help those in need. The cyclist was critically injured in the accident. They were rushed to the hospital for treatment, though their current condition is not yet known.

The roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.

Bicycle Accidents in New York

More bicycle accidents happen in New York than in many other states throughout the U.S. In fact, in 2019 alone, it was reported that approximately 3,835 bicycle accidents took place due to the outright recklessness of others. These accidents can typically be prevented on our roads when drivers pay close attention to the roads around them. Bicyclists have no protection from harm, which means that they are prone to some of the most severe injuries and can even lose their lives in the event of an accident. If you have suffered from injuries caused by a bicycle accident, you may be feeling alone and confused. You will have to show that another party is at fault for your accident as you move forward. It is helpful to have an attorney on your side at this time.
