Bronx, NY (July 2, 2021) – On Thursday evening, July 1, a man was killed in a bicycle crash on a roadway in the Bronx.
According to police, the accident happened on East 156th Street around the intersection with Brook Avenue. Police confirmed that 67-year-old Aloime Zamora-Castillo was riding an e-bike headed westbound in the area when a vehicle traveling southbound collided with him. Police initially received calls about a pedestrian struck by a vehicle but confirmed that he was on the e-bike at the time.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were called to the scene. Zamora-Castillo was seriously injured and pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
