Bronx, NY – One Killed in Fatal Apartment Fire on Park Ave

Bronx, NY (May 6, 2021) – Around 5 a.m. on Wednesday morning, May 5, one person was killed in a fatal apartment fire in the Bronx.

According to FDNY officials, the incident took place in an apartment on Park Avenue around the area of East 161st Street. Fire officials found that a fire began on the second floor of a six-story building. A total of 130 fire crews and over 30 units were present at the scene to put out the fire.

Paramedics and numerous other local responders were present at the scene. A 91-year-old woman who was rescued from the building was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead while there. Approximately 11 other civilians, as well as a firefighter, were injured in the fire. A few of the injuries were considered critical.

The area was blocked for some time until the fire was under control.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
