Greenlawn, NY – Rear-End Accident Injures Officer on Pulaski Rd

Greenlawn, NY (January 1, 2021) – Around 12:20 a.m. on Friday morning, January 1, a rear-end accident involving an officer happened in Greenlawn.

According to police, the accident took place on Pulaski Road near the area of Frazer Drive. The officer was pulled over with his lights activated and had a vehicle pulled over. His cruiser was suddenly rear-ended by a Honda Accord driven by William Macari. The police cruiser was sent flying forward into the Chrysler Pacifica in front of it.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the accident. The officer was the only person injured as a result of the accident. He was airlifted to a local hospital but is expected to recover.

Macari was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
