Staten Island, NY (March 4, 2021) – Around 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, March 3, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred in Staten Island.
According to police, the accident occurred at 200 Martling Avenue when a 75-year-old man was crossing the street and was struck by a vehicle. The man was halfway across the street when he was struck by the orange 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. The driver was headed eastbound at the time.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The 75-year-old man was taken to the hospital with severe injuries but pronounced dead while there.
The driver that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.
Police closed down a section of the road for a period of time as they cleared the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
