Staten Island, NY (October 19, 2021) – At 8:47 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, October 19, a house fire occurred in two homes on Staten Island.

According to fire crews, the incident was first reported in the early morning hours at 96 Renee Place near Hillman Avenue. The fire initially broke out in a home on its first and second floors. However, it quickly spread to the attached home next to it. The fire quickly spread and caused an influx of smoke. Due to the severity of the incident, both homes were severely damaged.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. A total of three firefighters and one civilian were injured as a result of the fire. Their current conditions are not yet known.

Approximately 25 units responded to the blaze to bring it under control. It took about an hour to get the fire under control. By 9:51 a.m., the fire was put out in both homes.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.

Fires in New York

Fires happen every hour of the day throughout the state of New York. In fact, New York sees more fires than many other states in the U.S. in both residential and commercial areas. Fires occur in the blink of an eye due to many reasons, some of which start due to negligence. The truth is, many of these incidents can be prevented. Some of the most severe injuries that stem from fires include smoke inhalation and burn injuries. If you have been hurt in a fire, you should be prepared to speak with an attorney in your time of need.

The aftermath of a fire can affect your life in many ways. Because of this, you may need the assistance of an attorney on your side. An attorney will be able to answer any questions that you may have as you move forward with a claim. For instance, what deadlines will you have to meet if you want to move forward with a claim? What evidence do you need to prove that another party is at fault for the fire? What should you say when you speak with the insurance adjuster involved in your case? These are questions that you can answer with the help of a dedicated Staten Island personal injury attorney on your side.
