Bronx, NY (June 28, 2021) – At 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 27, a serious fire broke out in a furniture store in the Bronx.

According to police, the incident took place at 34 West Burnside Avenue at a local Bronx furniture store. The flames were present in the cellar and the first floor, though fire crews are not yet sure about what started the fire. It took them until 5 p.m. to get it completely under control.

Paramedics and numerous other local responders were present at the scene. A total of eleven firefighters were injured in the blaze and were treated at the scene. It is not known if any were hospitalized. They are all expected to recover.

Due to the heat and humidity at the time of the fire, it took longer than usual to get under control. The area was blocked for some time throughout the evening hours.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
