Brooklyn, NY (April 8, 2021) – At 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, April 7, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash in Brooklyn.
According to officials, the accident happened on Brighton Beach Avenue around the area of Brighton 4th Street. A 97-year-old man named Volf Ferdman was struck by an SUV in the area, becoming pinned between the vehicle and a building. The driver in the Cadillac that struck him was identified as a 79-year-old man who was trying to pull out from a parking spot when he drove up over a curb.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were called to the scene. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital but pronounced dead while there.
The driver was not injured but remained at the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
