Long Island, NY (April 11, 2021) – Around 11:15 a.m. on Saturday morning, April 10, a woman was killed in a fatal fire that took place in Long Island.

According to Nassau County officials, the fire broke out in a home on Forester Lane. When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found that the home was engulfed in heavy black smoke. They were able to force entry into the home, where they found the homeowner inside.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were present at the scene. The 61-year-old female homeowner was initially unconscious but was soon pronounced dead at the scene.

The area was blocked for an extended period of time as the scene was cleared.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.

Calverton, NY (April 04, 2021) – A man was killed during a two-car accident in Calverton on Thursday, April 1st.

The collision took place at about 6:10 a.m. at the intersection of New York State Route 25 and Burman Boulevard at the entrance to Enterprise Park in Calverton.

The deceased, who has since been identified as 61-year-old Leonor Parra-Nunez, a resident of Coram, was traveling northbound on Burman Boulevard in a 1997 Nissan Maxima when, in spite of having a red light, he entered the intersection, where he was hit by an eastbound 2010 Chevrolet Equinox SUV on SR-25 driven by 33-year-old Rolando Ajcuc-Chamale, a resident of Calverton.

Police located two heavily damaged vehicles, one in a nearby wooded area and one in the intersection. Parra-Nunez was extricated from his Nissan by members of the Wading River Fire Department and transported by Riverhead Ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center with serious injuries. He died a short while later.

Ajcuc-Chamale was also transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by the Ridge Fire Department with non-critical injuries.

West Babylon, NY (April 03, 2021) – A passing car struck and killed a female pedestrian in West Babylon on Friday, April 2nd.

Officers from the Suffolk County Police Department reported that Lindenhurst resident, Mumtaz Malik, 81, was walking across Route 109 at the intersection of East Drive when she was struck by a 2019 Nissan Altima traveling eastbound at about 8:40 a.m. 

Malik was pronounced dead after her arrival at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.
