Queens, NY (June 13, 2021) – At 4 a.m. on Sunday morning, June 13, a man was killed in a fatal crash on a roadway in Queens.
According to authorities, the accident happened at the intersection of Fresh Pond Road and Eliot Avenue. Police confirmed that 47-year-old Mohammed Hossain was driving a Toyota RAV4 in the area when his vehicle collided with a Ford Explorer.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. Hossain, who works as a Lyft driver in the area, was taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries but was pronounced dead while there.
The 22-year-old driver of the Ford Explorer, Erik Chimborazo, was taken into police custody. He has since been charged with various crimes such as vehicular manslaughter, operating a vehicle without a license, DUI, and more.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the accident continues.
